Hampi, a group of UNESCO World Heritage monuments located in east central Karnataka is perhaps a reminder of the bygone glory of the Vijayanagara empire! The ruins are unbelievably out of the world perched amidst large rock boulders strewn over kilometers of disarrayed land. Plantations of Banana and fields of paddy near by make it a surreal destination to visit. I would say should be among the top of your list while visiting India.
The Hampi Utsav that happens every year around this time is magnificent, it not only gives you an opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of the monuments in the night, but also colourful bazaars, sporting events that run up until the night.
You could begin your tour of Hampi, from up above with a short paraplane joyride in the mornings. Now, don’t tell me this isn’t tempting enough to check this festival on your bucket list!
Hampi Utsav this year (2017) is happening this weekend – 3rd, 4th and 4th November.
