We have had the privilege to engage with the Royal families of Odisha and open the Heritage home stay way back with the Dhenkanal Royal family and now gradually the others have followed suit and are very enthusiastic to open doors to their Royal homes for a heritage stay experience to travellers.
Rajendra Villa- Mr Jagish Mardaraj the grandson of the Nilagiri Royal Bhanja Dynasty – the family consist of young couple and a daughter staying in Bhubaneswar – they have decided to have two rooms opened up for visitors for Heritage home stay experiences – The house is located close to the Bhubaneswar temple complex and local market.
Maharani Palace-adjoing the main Puri Palace of Ganga Vanshi Dynasty- We have the younger prince and princess of the Puri Royal family staying – the elder Prince Maharaj is an advocate and most of the time in Delhi.

The place has 10 airconditioned rooms. One can have excursion of visiting the famous Nuapatna textile weaving village, Sadeibarni Dokra crafts of the local Munda tribal community, and also witness the special religious ceremonies performed by the Mahima sect of Joranda- 45 mins drive each way from Dhenkanal- this is absolutely unique – the world headquarters of Mahima sect. They have the famous Joranda Festival in February. We also have the Kapilas temple and a small deer park at the foot of the hill. The young couple and their parents are staying there and it offers a good chance to see wild elephants and birding. Chowdwar Kila Daljoda
Four Non A/C rooms and this Royal Family belongs to the Panchakote Raj Estate from Eastern India.
They are the direct descendants of the Kshatriya clans of Pramar Rajputs. The young couple with their only daughter lives here and plays the host. One can have nature walks, birding, angling, visit the nearby Munda tribal village, market and also cycle around the village, indulge in cooking demonstrations and also see wild life during summer as they come to the nearby pond.

The Chalukya Dynasty – Raja Chandrabanu Deba Royal family- Prince Braja Deba and family – they have opened up 5 rooms -02 A/C and 3 Non A/C rooms for visits- Dusshera is highly celebrated – the whole village congregates and the Prince conducts the ceremonies and addresses the villagers. There is also a local fair held during Dusshera. Bhitarkanika excursion to see the crocodile sanctuary , birds and nature trail and boating may be organized for the adventurous traveller.
Villages are very interesting, and you can also see almost all the houses in the village opened with none of the doors locked. The Palace is located approximately 130 Km from Bhubaneswar.
Nilagiri Palace – The Palace is located near Balasore approximately 200 km/3.5 hr drive from Bhubaneswar.
This is mid-way between Kolkata and Bhubaneswar.
