I'm travel-dreaming from isolation. I yearn to stretch my wings, to heal my body, feed my mind and warm my spirit when this is all over.
As it happens, I started thinking about the complex and changeable concept that is 'wellness' some months ago. As I made an in-depth tour of just about every type of wellness retreat India has to offer I unpacked this big word of many meanings. Now I'm ready to share my findings, to help you identify the experience that suits your whole personality.
So, what is 'wellness'? I've learnt that It's a variety pack! Each person picks what suits them. In essence it's whatever makes you feel happy and fulfilled. A week of yoga and spa treatments is one person's heaven, another's nightmare. You may dream of 'forest bathing' walks in the Lower Himalayas, buying vegetables in markets to cook local dishes, or a slow-down exploration of an ancient site followed by a sunset cocktail - each is a valid a way to find a greater sense of wellbeing.
